Employee Testimonial Samples: 12 Examples + Video Templates

See 12 examples of employee testimonials and get templates to create your own.

The primary role of employee testimonials is to show potential candidates what it’s like to work at your company by showcasing the company’s culture and work environment.

Other types of employee videos (such as training or sales success stories) can increase employee retention by helping folks stay up to date on products and connected to customers. Additionally, customers may grow more loyal to your brand when they have insight into how your company operates, what its core values are, and how happy your employees are to work for you.

However, the types of testimonial you use makes a difference. Written testimonials are often seen as the simplest way to get endorsements from employees, but they are not nearly as believable as video testimonials, for example. This is because video has the added advantage of job seekers seeing and hearing your current employees talk about their experiences at your company.

Through video, your staff (and by extension, your company) are easier to relate to and you can establish a direct emotional connection with prospective candidates. Video is also impossible to fake.

One of the main difficulties with video testimonials, however, is that they're seen as expensive to create. The standard approach involves hiring a professional film crew and a professional video editor. This is very costly and takes a lot of effort and resources. Many companies don’t want to spend that much to create them and opt for written testimonials, instead.

But telling employee stories and highlighting company values through videos can be much easier than writing them down. And they aren’t overly expensive or time-consuming to produce if you use the right software, like our platform Vocal Video.

We designed Vocal Video to allow you to easily and affordably record and collect video testimonials from your employees asynchronously, in a fraction of the time and cost of putting together a professionally-shot and edited video.

Collector editor in Vocal Video.

To collect videos, first you need to create a ‘collector’. Here is an overview of how you do that. You can also watch our short video on Creating Video Collectors.

  • Add a welcome message. Explain what you're asking your employees to do and why they should take part.
  • You can offer an incentive for providing a testimonial.
  • Come up with three to five questions you'd like our employees to answer. You can use the templates provided in our Employee Testimonials section for inspiration.
  • Add your company's logo, colors, and branding, to use in the final version of the employee testimonial videos. You only need to do this once, and then these elements automatically get added to each new employee testimonial you create. However, you can change them whenever you'd like.
  • Share the automatically generated link with your staff.
  • Your employees click on the link and are taken to your fully branded video landing pages where they follow easy instructions to record answers to your questions.
  • They use their own device to shoot their video testimonial, so they don't need to install anything.
  • Employees can record their videos whenever they want. You don't have to agree on a specific date and location, because all videos are recorded asynchronously.
  • The video collector asks them one question at a time and then lets them think for a moment before pressing record.
  • Each employee can record their responses to each question for up to 5 minutes. They can replay any response and re-record, if they want to, until they get it right.
  • Once they've recorded an answer for one of the questions, they move on to the next.
  • After completing all the questions, they submit their answers by clicking “Submit” and the recording is forwarded to you.
