Speakers: Kendra Loney, Public Information Officer, Nashville Fire Department

Kendra Loney: My name is Kendra Loney. I am the public information officer for the Nashville Fire Department and the Nashville Office of Emergency Management.

Kendra Loney: I was awarded a Yvorra scholarship for fire and emergency services.

Kendra Loney: I have taken on the task of expanding our department's community engagement by creating and operating a nonprofit organization, the Blaze Mentoring program. That program is not funded through our metropolitan government or our department, yet we operate as an extension of our department. We have provided scholarships upwards of $22,000 to graduating seniors through our public school system and we also operate annual holiday giveaway events back to school giveaway events as well and those programs cost money to operate. I want to continue to be able to give those things back to our community as an extension of our community engagement through our department, and I want to use this scholarship to continue to grow that department so that it can have lasting sustainability.
