Speakers: Jeffrey Hennessy, Commander, Coordinator of Hazardous Materials/WMD Training, Chicago Fire Department
Jeffrey Hennessy: Hello, my name is Jeffrey Hennessey, commander and hazmat training coordinator with the Chicago Fire Department. I am honored to be selected as a recipient for the Chief John Eversole Hazmat Scholarship.
Jeffrey Hennessy: The Yvorra Leadership Development Foundation scholarship represents a significant opportunity for me to develop as a leader in haz mat training and response. My goal is to build the skills that our members need. When they respond to incidents, enable them to make informed decisions based on the experience they've gained through training. Good leadership can help foster a culture in which training becomes important, where members seek out opportunities to grow and improve. I want to use this scholarship to strengthen my role as an educator. By seeking out new classes and learning new teaching methods. I can create realistic training programs to help better prepare our members when they respond to complex problems. A well-trained fire department will succeed when facing difficult challenges. Including a haz mat incident. The more I develop as a leader and educator, the more I can provide opportunities for members to strive and succeed.
