Matthew Jefferies: So when I engage business owners for the first time, often one of the first questions I have is actually how is the finance function performing at the moment? And often this is a really difficult question to answer, largely on the basis that actually what what does good look like? You know, how can you benchmark that and this really is where the finance function health-check comes into its own. So by answering a set of rapid fire questions, we're able to produce a free report that measures the business against the three key elements of any effective finance function. So number one day-to-day finance management, number two functional finance processes, systems and controls, and number three commercial finance management and information. What the report does, is it highlights where the finance function is performing well, but also where action is required to improve that performance. In addition to that, we'll include some ideas for improving the finance function itself. And this really is no nonsense advice for finance function success. I think the key here as well is that it's a really useful tool for SME businesses to identify and prioritise a specific set of actions that will help create more cash, more profit at lower business risk
