Speaker: Freddy Maldonado
Describe how Workforce Solutions Rural Capital Area helped you.
Freddy Maldonado : Hi, my name is Freddie Maldonado and I was laid off on June the second and, uh I was a little destroyed. Uh, but I thank God that he put me in the path. And I met Leslie at Workforce Solutions in San Marcos, Texas. She heard me, we talked and she told me everything was gonna be ok, Freddy, to trust myself and to start looking. I was looking for a production supervisor position and I was able to go on the website and go to Workforce Solutions and just start doing what I had to do. And I thank God that I was able to find one in Buda after 3 and a half weeks, almost for almost a month, but I was able to do it. And I wanna thank everybody. And first of all, I want to thank God for helping me and giving me the courage to start looking for another job, my family and everybody who prayed for me and everybody who helped me. Thank you.
What was the moment you realized you needed/wanted a change?
Freddy Maldonado : Hi. Uh, once again, my name is Freddie. And, uh, I realized that I needed a change when the culture started getting a little bit ugly. But, uh, in my past role, uh, I wasn't happy. Um, I like the schedule but I just wasn't, it wasn't something I'm gonna be able to do. And when they laid me off was one of the best feelings I had. But the same thing was awful because how was I gonna be able to maintain my family? And, uh, it was an awful feeling and I don't deserve that. Nobody. It's like, uh, they punch on their guts, you know, that type of feeling, but we need to always move forward and always ask for help when we need it. You know, we will always need help and we could always help somebody. Thank you.
How would you describe Workforce Solutions Rural Capital Area in three words?
Freddy Maldonado : I would describe Workforce Solutions as, as hope, grateful and understanding because in the worstest times when we go through to find a job, I saw it and, and, and I see it in Leslie, I witnessed where there was a gentleman who was real frustrated, just angry, but Leslie was a real professional person, compassion, cared and understanding. And even though we're in the desert, she was giving us a helping hand to come out of the desert and to look at their tomorrow is, is a new day. And I think her, Angie and the staff there, they went over their over, they go over their head to help people. They even did a job fair. And I met a lot of good people there and I was able to feel that we got this and thank you to all.
What advice do you have for others considering a career change through Workforce Solutions Rural Capital Area?
Freddy Maldonado : Hi. Once again. Well, a lot of us don't have the same courage but sometimes we just need to help and that's where Workforce Solutions comes in where they could help us understand and how to speak to our new employers. And that's very important to me because I didn't have the words as a production supervisor. You know, you would think you have the words for that. Right. But I didn't, but those were the things in a way that I enjoyed because I was able to talk to them and they were able to count, uh, give me words of what to say to them, but just don't give up, don't give up. There's always hope.
