Speaker: Ngumih Fien
What does International Women’s Day mean to you and how do you plan on celebrating it?
Ngumih Fien: International Women's Day is a day where women's achievements are celebrated globally, and also it is a call to action to improve gender equality and women's rights all over the world. How do I plan on celebrating it? I plan on celebrating it with my fellow young women, and I plan on celebrating every woman I know for our input in the community and for helping the community move forward.
The theme of Women TechMakers’ International Women’s Day this year is: Dare To Be. What have you decided to “Dare To Be”?
Ngumih Fien: I've always been shy and scared to help others because I thought my opinion never counted. But this year I dare to be bold. I dare to speak up for myself and I dare to be innovative, creating solutions that will help my community move forward. Finally, I dare to be everything that a young girl would admire to be.
What words of advise or motivation are you giving to young women who are in tech or curious about tech in Bamenda?
Ngumih Fien: Start just start find a community of women who are interested in what you're interested in, Find a project, work on something, put yourself out there and finally believe that you can do it because you actually can.
