Speaker: Susan Bremner, The Teachers' Menopause Coach

What made you choose this menopause coaching diploma instead of other options?

Susan Bremner: I chose to go along with Lauren's course because during the discovery call she came across as a really genuine authentic person um who had suffered with menopause symptoms and wanted to share her story and I could relate to that, so it was a shared experience, no hard sell, and I wanted a proper qualification. I, I knew I was going to be working with teachers who are highly qualified so. I didn't want to just do an online course, I wanted a good solid qualification, and that's what Lauren's course offers. It's a good mix of theory, but also practical experience, so you don't just improve your knowledge about the menopause journey, but you also develop coaching skills so that you can support other menopausal women through this transition.

What specific challenge or uncertainty did you have before enrolling, and how has the training resolved that?

Susan Bremner: Before I started Lauren's course I was a bit uncertain whether I had enough knowledge about the menopause. Yes, I'd done some webinars, a lot of reading, even an online course, but, I had got it into my head that I had to be an expert on the menopause, I think having been a teacher for 30 years and being seen as the expert in German by the children, uh, that's why I was a bit nervous, but through doing the course I realised that. Menopausal women, your clients, they don't want to be lectured to, they don't want big presentations on menopause, they want you to support them, they want someone to listen to them, to let them know that what they experience is normal and that with small lifestyle changes that you can start to manage your symptoms.

How has this diploma changed your confidence, career, or business results so far?

Susan Bremner: I think at the beginning of the course I was suffering a bit from imposter syndrome because I felt, who am I to become a menopause coach, but through um the course I realised that I did have a lot to offer other women, not just with my lived experience, um through having been in a classroom with severe. Menopause symptoms and having developed strategies, but through Lauren's course and the framework of her menopause Plan, I realised that I did have the skills and the ability um to support other menopausal women, and the business section in the course led by Chris from America was really useful, um, telling us to, um, Give different offers from a low end offer to a high end offer and not to be scared of pricing, or and not to see it as some hard sell but more of an invitation um to the clients to work with you, to be supported by you, and I like that idea.

What surprised you most about the experience?

Susan Bremner: What surprised me about the experience was that it was so much more than a course about the menopause coaching, it was a real community with women from all over the world, but we were united in our desire to help other women um cope with their menopausal journey. And you know we shared ideas, humour, tips, advice, stories, it was an amazing community. But the topic that surprised me the most was decluttering. At first I wasn't sure why decluttering was in the menopause plan, but then I realised when I worked through it that it's a good way of talking about limiting beliefs and how limiting beliefs um can start coming up um during the menopause phase and you know it is quite a sensitive topic. And I actually found um it was one of the topics that both myself and my practise clients probably enjoyed the most, so it's definitely very worthwhile having in the menopause Plan.

Who would you recommend this diploma to, and why?

Susan Bremner: I would first of all recommend Lauren's course to people perhaps who already are in the medical profession or health profession. Um, such as nurses, GPs, psychologists, but also nutritionists, personal trainers, because it just gives them an extra service that they, um, can provide, and I think that would be really useful. But also I think for women like myself who suffered severe menopausal symptoms in a work environment. And we're not supported, I think it would be good in each workplace to have a menopause champion, someone that has been trained and can hold a safe space for other women and take them through the menopause plan and make them aware of the small changes that they can make to really help their symptoms. I think that would be a big step forward um in the workplace.
