Who can benefit?
Dr. Scott Baker: In short, everyone, at least everyone with a spine. And that's most people I know, but especially young Children, did you know from the time the baby is born until they're about 12 years old, that is the most neurological development that will happen in their entire lifetime. So it's absolutely crucial to make sure the pressure is off the nerve of the brain stem for that baby and that child because they're developing all their neurological uh abilities, their ability to talk and speak and walk and function and socialize. And it's so crucial to make sure those primitive reflexes are working properly and they're progressing properly. Young Children are absolutely a prime candidate for the type of care we do. We adjust babies a couple hours old and we adjust people all the way into their nineties. So ideally, the quickest way to solve a problem is to get to it at the very beginning. Like if I wanted shade, I should have planted a tree 20 years ago. But the second best time is today. So, come on in today. Let's see if we can figure this out for you. Thank you.
Is it painful to have a chiropractic adjustment?
Dr. Scott Baker: Absolutely not chiropractic adjustment should not be painful. Although sometimes an area is already inflamed or injured. And so when you move that bone, even if you take it off of the nerve, it could be uncomfortable, getting it off of the nerve. So sometimes in the body, when it needs to heal and recover, inflammation may create. So you may get a correction and then the blood will start going into that joint to start healing it. And that could also create a little bit of discomfort. But ideally, the adjustment itself should be very specific, very gentle and tailored to what your needs are and the way your body is shaped and that needs to be based on x rays. So make sure that whatever chiropractor you go to, they're taking really good x-rays, they're very specific and very gentle because it does not take much pressure to move a joint and take it off of the nerve.
How can Upper Cervical Chiropractic help my neck pain?
Dr. Scott Baker: Well, first thing understanding upper cervical, the word cervical means neck. And so it means upper neck. So if you have pain in your neck caused by the bones in the upper neck, being not in the right place and pinching a nerve, then that's actually the only way to fix the problem. Right? You, you, if, if the bone is causing the nerve pressure, uh there's no, no pill, no, no drug, there's, there's nothing you're gonna be able to do. There's no shot that moves the bone. Uh So you have to take the bone off of the nerve and then the nerve will function properly. And generally that means the, it, the pain will go away the, the muscles and the tone and everything starts functioning properly. So, uh that's how it works is is if the cause of the problem comes from the pinched nerve, like the pain in the neck is caused by that, then the only answer is to take the pressure off of the nerve. And then the symptomatology should just go right away. It's kind of a side effect to what we do
What is the Blair Technique?
Dr. Scott Baker: What is Blair technique? Well, you gotta know who Blair was and that's Doctor William Blair, he's the founder of the Blair technique and he worked directly with BJ Palmer, who's the founder and developer of chiropractic. So it's right from the source and they were always just obsessed with finding the very best way to analyze the spine and the very best way to adjust the spine as little as possible, get the maximum result for the patient. And so they developed a very special series of X rays which we call the cervical views or protractive views that help us look directly at the joint, not only how it shaped, but how it has gone out of place. And so we know the exact vector convergence and slope angle to put it back perfectly and gently for that patient to get that nerve off of there. And they had found that the most important area to keep clear was the area at the top of the neck, which is where your brain stem is. And so the Blair technique is uh an incredible the specific technique I I, in my opinion, I'm a little biased because it's what I do is the most specific of all the techniques out there. And it's fantastic and it works powerfully. And I've seen Miracle story after miracle story here in our office where patients come in with pinched nerve, which is unbelievable symptomatology from, I mean, I've had people blind uh multiple sclerosis, um come in a wheelchair and we take that pressure off that nerve and they'll get their sight back, they'll be able to walk again. Their life just comes back on because that brain stem runs every function in your body. And if you're choking the life out of it, you're choking the life out of you. And we open that up, take that pressure off and the body just does what it does best and that's take care of you and heal you. And the Blair technique is based on specific three dimensional x rays and give you the very best chance of getting the very best adjustment with the least amount of pressure with the maximum result possible for you.
Can Upper Cervical Care help me with migraine relief?
Dr. Scott Baker: You know, that is such a great question. Migraines are no joke. Uh, headaches are no joke and, and most people don't even know that if you're having more than one migraine a year, that's considered chronic, uh, more than one headache a year that's considered chronic. Uh, so headaches are not a normal part of life. And a lot of people think that it is, migraines are tricky. And I'll tell you sometimes migraines are created by uh chemical imbalances or even, and um genetic disorders and things like that. But that's extremely, extremely rare. The most common migraines are coming from pinched nerves and pressure on the vertebral artery in your neck. You know, you look at the top bones here in the neck, this little spongy part right here that, that's considered your vertebral artery. If these bones are out of alignment, it puts pressure on this artery which supplies blood to your brain, then this side of your brain will have low blood pressure and this side will have regular blood pressure. Well, your brain's not gonna tolerate that. It's gonna say, oh, that's not right. So what's gonna tell the, the heart to do? Push harder and what do we call that high blood pressure? Right? But high blood pressure. So it pushes it up here. Now, this side's normal, but this side now has high blood pressure because it's got normal flow. And so you feel that thumping behind the eyeball, that's the middle meningeal artery, it's laying right across your optic nerve. You're literally feeling your heartbeat behind your eyeballs. So that's why you get sense of the light and sound and all those things. It just becomes super horrible. Um I know this firsthand because I suffered from migraines as a child. I had them so bad, they make me vomit and I had to wear glasses and all these things. And I remember my uh my uncle graduated from Palmer back in 1981 and he gave me my first adjustment when I was 12 years old. And I thought, man, this is like magic. He adjusted me and I don't have migraines anymore. This is incredible. Well, it's not always that simple. Of course, I was really young and didn't have a lot of damage. And so settling my spine easily at that age and kept me migraine fear for years. And I didn't have another one until I had some really bad sport injuries and injuries in the military. And they came back and I got care again and now they're gone and I don't, I don't get migraines. I just, I just don't have, I don't, we get really good headaches once in a while, we get sinus stuff. But, you know, I live in the upstate, that's what happens. But ideally, you know, for you, if you're suffering from migraines, you owe it to yourself to not uh do drugs or try to do surgeries, it was so drastic. It could be just as simple as a very specific adjustment, taking pressure off of that artery and that nerve in the neck and, and, and you know, if that's what's causing the problem, then that's gonna cure the problem. So you owe it to yourself to come in and find out what that is. And I'll tell you it's a heck of a lot less expensive to get an adjustment than it is to pay for a bunch of migraine medicine or, or some sort of surgery and, and it's not dangerous. It's safe, effective pain free, drug free surgery free. This is the best option for you.
