Speaker: ashley james, 39, female
Ashley James: My name is Ashley. I'm 39 years old and I live in Jefferson County, West Virginia.
Ashley James: Virginia. I am a newly married wife to a disabled veteran. Altogether we have 10 kids, but our youngest is 16 years old. I am currently on Medicaid myself. The reason why it means a lot to me is because I do need my Medicaid for my mental health. I am able to work. I'm working in a work from home position. Losing coverage from me would be very, very devastating, and the reason why is because I rely on Medicaid to fill my mental health medications as well as my substance abuse medications that I need on a daily basis. It would also eliminate me from being able to speak with a licensed therapist and losing Medicaid, um. I don't know what I'm going to do. I don't even know if I would be able to afford these appointments without Medicaid assistance. So I beg and plead that the lawmakers really reconsider the people that really, really, really need to be on Medicaid.
