Speaker: Sandra Steiner Ball

Sandra Steiner Ball: Today is Ash Wednesday. And today I share the first prayer in our Linton series of prayers. Again, I invite you to tune in every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. And I invite you not just to pray with us as we pray, I invite you to adopt a life of prayer, especially in this 40 days of Lent so that you might walk closer with Jesus Christ.

Sandra Steiner Ball: On this first day of lent. I'd like to share with you a prayer from scripture. It's from Psalm 51. And I hope that later today or sometime this week or maybe several times during this slanting journey that you will look up. Psalm 51 that you will read it, that you will meditate on it and that you will pray it. So please pray with me this morning. These words from Psalm 51 create in me, a clean heart o God and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me away from your presence or take your holy spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit to sustain me. Then I will teach transgressors your ways so that sinners will turn back to you, deliver me from the guilt of bloodshed. O God. You who are God, my savior and my tongue will sing of your righteousness, open my lips. O Lord and my mouth shall declare your praise. You do not delight in sacrifice or I would bring it. You do not take pleasure in burnt offerings. My sacrifice o God is a broken spirit, a broken and contrite heart, God, you will not despise. May this be part of your prayer journey this week and every week during lent. May it be so amen.
