Venus (Aleks) Retiro: Hello, my name is Aleks Retiro and I attended De Anza High school.

Venus (Aleks) Retiro: In the fall, I will be attending Sacramento State University with an expressed interest in psychology.
What is one thing you are most proud of accomplishing this past year?
Venus (Aleks) Retiro: One thing I'm most proud of accomplishing this past year was being a part of the All District Choir festival which occurred at Richmond High School last April 20th, 2023. And I was able to perform as part of the honor choir for all of the districts in front of many different peers my age with the same interests as me. It was very fun.
What are you most looking forward to next year in college?
Venus (Aleks) Retiro: Next year in college, what I'm most looking forward to do, is being in a new environment and being surrounded by new people with the potential of finding new friends and finding new things to discover and explore over at Sacramento State University.
How does this scholarship help you progress towards your academic goals?
Venus (Aleks) Retiro: The Contra Costa Chorale Vocal Music Studies Scholarship will help me in progressing in my studies in pursuing psychology as my major, while also being able to do music at the side, being able to pursue my passion of becoming a self produced musical artist while still being able to study and pursue my, my dream, my goal of becoming a therapist and perhaps in the future, becoming a music therapist.

Venus (Aleks) Retiro: Thank you very much to Contra Costa Chorale and Ed Fund for this glorious opportunity. Words cannot express enough how much grateful I am. This allows me to pursue so much more in my journey to higher education and to open new doors to my future. Thank you very much from the bottom of my heart.
