Introduce yourself and tell us about your co-op this semester.
Trey Gring: Hello, my name is Tre Ring. And this co-op semester I worked with J M electrical company in Linfield Massachusetts. They are an electrical uh lighting and system controls, subcontracting company. And I helped the assistant project managers as a project coordinator and I assisted them in day to day various activities, predominantly working uh with floor plans and doing basic count ups and markups of those floor plans. In order to have those project managers submit bids and be able to obtain certain projects.
While on co-op, what is a project that you've been a part of that has inspired you?
Trey Gring: On this co-op, I helped a certain assistant project manager and a larger scale uh bidding project of Commonwealth Peer. And that was probably the largest project that I had helped and worked on in terms of marking up and counting and providing uh hopefully a somewhat accurate markup count. Um And that kind of has inspired me to be more involved on a larger scale basis. I've done a lot of smaller scale projects. But learning and reading into these larger scale projects has inspired me to want to get more involved in a much larger scale.
What have you learned that you will use in your career?
Trey Gring: I've learned a lot this semester on this co-op from J M electrical, I'd say a big skill or, you know, just kind of um something I've learned that's gonna help me. And overall my career is getting a better understanding of the blue beam software. Um that is a software that is used all throughout my career in terms of the industry and who all is in the industry. Everybody uses blue beam. And so that's been a very helpful um tool to adapt and become better at using. Um I would also say just overall understanding, getting a better understanding of floor uh floor plan reading has helped and improved significantly and being able to read a floor plan and understand what is being presented to. You can help you significantly in understanding a project that you're working on.
