Speaker: Samantha Manalad

Introduce yourself and tell us about your co-op this semester.

Samantha Manalad: Hi there. My name is Samantha Malli, and I'm currently a sophomore attending co op in the spring semester at Harvard Law School IT. Um, I do the role of just an intern here and what I really like about my time being here is that I'm able to jump from job to job. I'm never in the same place all the time. Um, some of those jobs would be to help professors out with their AB system, meaning. You know, microphones with their lectures and presentations and stuff like that, and then um also able to um be at the service desk and help students that need any help with their technological issues, and also being in the workroom where we get to build computers to lease to staff members and students and other stuff like that. I also really like the environment and how um chill it is here, um. They're all very friendly, and I just really enjoy being here, and I also have downtime to be able to work on other things and take classes elsewhere as well. So it's also not too rigorous, um, but yeah, that's my time here.

While on co-op, what is a project that you've been a part of that has inspired you?

Samantha Manalad: OK. To be honest, I can't pin a specific project that has inspired me, but I will say, being able to work with such a big team and seeing how cohesive they work and how they um work together has really inspired me um in my future career. And being in business because I believe like leadership and teamwork is a really big part of it. Um, and it's really inspired me to communicate um amongst peers and being able to just produce a Good product, while there's so many hands on it, so I'd say, yeah.

What have you learned that you will use in your career?

Samantha Manalad: I'd say I've learned a really good mix of hard and soft skills, um, hard skills being, um, being able to connect certain technology and being able to fix computers off whim in short timely notice, and all that, um. It really let me be able to fix my own um computer issues and hopefully in the future, it wouldn't be such a problem for me if that kind of thing comes up. Um, I've also learned a lot of soft skills being um the most important one that I think I've learned would be um just being able to come up with resolutions right on the spot and Um, performing it in a really well timely manner and in a very professional manner at that. Um, also having good customer skills and um being able to communicate things in a certain way and just um sort of developing that language while talking to customers or um yeah, just professionals that need help. So, that's something I think I've learned.
