Speaker: Paige Morgan
Introduce yourself and tell us about your co-op this semester.
Paige Morgan : Hi, my name is Paige Morgan and my co op this semester is at David Mateo architecture in Bath Maine. And we do commercial residential projects and I've mostly been working on, um, basically doing renovations for residential projects within the area.
While on co-op, what is a project that you've been a part of that has inspired you?
Paige Morgan : Um one project that I've been working on that has inspired me so far um is a house in Hartwell. And um I'm currently drawing up schematic designs for a guest wing expansion of the main house. And this guess when expansion is connected by a bridge of sorts. And I think that that has been really inspirational because I have liked working on the transition from both houses and just the idea that a house can even have like a sky catwalk of some sorts that's all glass um is really unique and interesting.
What have you learned that you will use in your career?
Paige Morgan : Um since I tend to be leaning towards working in the residential field, a lot of the things that I've learned really pertain with um a lot of the aspects of um what's very common with specifically New England architecture, but also residential architecture as a whole. Um Learning about the specificities of roof types, um dormers, things that are very commonly used in New England architecture um And learning the terminology for those pieces, especially when talking with clientele and um construction management and um other people that we would be working on within these projects and just basically learning the right terminology, the right measurements for these types of things and just kind of having um guidelines to go off of when designing residential homes.
