Speaker: Matt Averh
Introduce yourself and tell us about your co-op this semester.
Matt Averh: My name is Matt, I am a technical support engineer intern at Vestmark. Um What I do, I um I communicate directly with clients using the Vest Mark One trade in software, um trade management software um that allows investment managers to uh manage accounts at scale. Um So we were closely with them to where the first line for any bugs or issues that they encounter while using their uh personalized software.
While on co-op, what is a project that you've been a part of that has inspired you?
Matt Averh: So one project that has inspired me is the implementation of big panda. Uh big panda is an AIOPs um application. And the reason why this is an inspiring project is because it shows that the management is looking at the management of the company is always looking for new software to integrate into our uh workflow. Even though it's not um a direct issue that we're having is gonna make the workflow a lot smoother and easier allowing for more work to get done and a smoother um experience for the clients using the software.
What have you learned that you will use in your career?
Matt Averh: So there's a few things I've learned here. Um First uh a life lesson is to be whenever writing a procedure first or instructions to be as detailed as possible. Always. Um Another thing I've learned is I've professionalized my customer service skills going from working in retail or fast food into a professional environment. Um I still have the customer service skills but I feel like I've professionalized them, formalize them also um technical skills. Um I've greatly been improving my sequel um knowledge and experience. And also I have been learning more about different Softwares like the Splunk Cloud, which is good for large software projects. It gets all the logs and compiles them into an area. Another thing like I mentioned earlier was big panda and sales force, which is huge and all other types of technical experience that I've learned while working at Vestmark.
