Speaker: Aymene Bali

Introduce yourself and tell us about your co-op this semester.

Aymene Bali: Hello. Uh My name is Aymene Bali and I am a senior biomedical engineering student currently doing my co op at MGH. Uh I contribute to various biomedical engineering project, especially in the DAS area. That's where I have a multiple project going on right now. Uh It's been a fantastic opportunity uh to apply my academic knowledge to solve real world problem and also work with multiple different people.

While on co-op, what is a project that you've been a part of that has inspired you?

Aymene Bali: Uh I will say my first ever project here at MGH. So I've been part of a project focused on improving dialysis technology by adding a booster pump to the dialysis machine to address issues with low wire pressure. So I've been working with two different engineers on this project at the start. I did some research to find multiple booster pump that connected vendors to inquire about the pump and their materials. Then together with the two other engineer, we design how and where we will place the bomb. Then we did multiple trials and it was successful and the staff like the pump and we received an approval. So we keep using the pump. So this experience has been incredibly inspiring. Uh And it kept me going and hungrier for more, more and more project.

What have you learned that you will use in your career?

Aymene Bali: Uh I learned uh several variable skills and lessons from the co op that I will definitely use in my career. First, I've gained hands on experience in troubleshooting medical devices which is crucial for biomedical engineer. Second, I developed uh my research and communication skills by uh interacting with vendors and gathering detailed technical information. Finally, collaborating with a team of engineers has taught me the approach of teamwork and effective project management.
