Speaker: Angela Liang

Introduce yourself and tell us about your co-op this semester.

Angela Liang: Hello, my name is Angela. I'm a rising junior in architecture at Wentworth and I'm currently on Co op for the summer at Logan Architects in Fitchburg. And I've really been enjoying my time working there as part of the design team. I work on and off of various projects from restaurants to apartments and even private residences. Um I spend most of my time drafting plans or reading up on the code, but every so often I go on site visits and I really enjoy those just to see all the professionals in the field and get to know everyone. Uh The entire process is rigorous but very fun and I feel like I've learned a ton from my supervisor and the hands on work in office in all. I'm really loving my coop experience and I can't wait to learn more. All right, bye bye.

While on co-op, what is a project that you've been a part of that has inspired you?

Angela Liang: One of my favorite projects I've worked on so far was a Victorian porch design. It was a porch where I was given basically full rein to design as I pleased. I spent quite a bit of time reading through books of historical architecture during that period. And I, as I learned more about the intricate ornamentation and detail work, I couldn't help but be inspired by the beauty. I absolutely love restoration work and my co op has, let me explore that.

What have you learned that you will use in your career?

Angela Liang: One of the most important things I believe that you can learn during co op is how to work with people. More specifically how to adapt in a workspace and work with the team. There will be difficult people everywhere in life, both in and out of work. So learning to deal with those types of situations is crucial.
