Our People Principles

Melissa Aste: Hi, my name is Melissa Aste and I'm on our Leadership Development team here at Wayfair. You're likely familiar with our people principles at this point as we try to embed them into everything that we do. But as a quick refresher, our people principles describe how we operate at our best as individuals, teams, And as a company. They apply to all Wayfairians across roles, functions, levels and locations and anchor our hiring, assessment, and development practices. All employees are responsible for knowing them and upholding them. But as a manager, this is especially important as your employees look to you for guidance about what's important, what they should pay attention to, and how they should behave.

A Manager's Role in Upholding our People Principles

Melissa Aste: As a manager, you have three main responsibilities when it comes to the people principles, which will help your direct reports and team perform better and will make you a culture leader. At Wayfair. First, you should know the people principles well, second call out examples of when your team members demonstrate these people principles and finally build supportive team practices that better allow everyone to demonstrate these people principles.
