Speaker: Trevor Gardemal, Employee Services Co-op

What is the most valuable advice you received from a session, or one new thing you learned?

Trevor Gardemal: The most valuable thing that I learned is that people are always going to be willing to get to know you better when you work together. Just having that common experience of working for the same company or in the same office is often enough to help you make that connection and get to know your coworkers.

How have the Building Your Home sessions helped you transition to working at Wayfair?

Trevor Gardemal: The new hire networking session really helped me feel more comfortable getting to know more people, whether they are new hires or they've been here for a while because not only did I have the chance to, you know, actually get in these um, small groups and get to know these other new hires. But I just felt like the ex, the chance to practice and um flex those networking muscles was really helpful and it made me feel more confident in my ability to meet new people at work. I think the chance to have these quick conversations in a safe low stakes environment was really helpful in affirming in my social abilities.

What session had the biggest impact on you, and why?

Trevor Gardemal: So I've only done one building your home session so far, but I'm signed up for my other two. And the one I did was the uh new higher networking session and that one did have a big impact on me because like I said, it allowed me to feel more secure in my social skills. And I felt like I really enjoyed um the conversations I had with people. Some of them were leaving um a week or two after the session, but it was still nice to get to speak to them. You know, we were adding each other on linkedin during the sessions. And even though it was quick, we got to, I got to hear people's advice about working at Wayfair. Some of them were interns who had been here for four months and no, for two months and they knew a thing or two. And I think that was really helpful and impactful.
