Kristofer Smith: Hi, my name is Kristofer Smith and I'm the HR People Partner, Generalist for the North America region
What 3 words best describe you?
Kristofer Smith: The three words that best describe me are discipline, focus and dedicated. When I put my mind to accomplishing something I try to work as hard as I can to achieve them to the best of my abilities. These rewards guide my interactions with my family, career, goals and spirituality.
What does Black History Month mean to you personally?
Kristofer Smith: To me, Black History Month is a reminder to all Americans that this country would not be as wealthy or sustainable today. If it were not for the innovation, hard work, intellect, and courage of Black Americans that came before us. It is a celebration and acknowledgment of our ancestors and their excellence. It gives me the motivation to continue striving for greatness beyond my current circumstances. It's an understanding that without Black history, there would be no American history.
Who are your historical role models or figures who inspire you, and why?
Kristofer Smith: I gained my biggest inspiration from Black American icons like Martin Luther King, James Baldwin and bicyclist and Major Taylor. They are all recognized as pioneers in their areas of expertise and had to maneuver through a system of injustice. They rose to the challenge and fought to replace it with a system of true equality and fairness.
What are your hopes and dreams for the future, both personally and professionally?
Kristofer Smith: Professionally I hope and dream to continue expanding my knowledge and my field to ultimately help as many people as possible. In regards to personal endeavors, I hope and dream of future that's better for the generations that will come after me. I hope to positively impact and influence my immediate world of family to give them the guidance I had to seek for myself. Finally, I hope to continue growing into the individual God meant for me to become and to always keep what's most important front and center.
