Can you share your name, department, and describe your role at Vantiva?
Lorena Gutierrez : Hola. My name is Lorena Gutierrez and I work at the marketing department in Vantiva supply chain solutions. I help enhance our online and market brand presence with media content, creation, videography, and photography.
What does your Hispanic heritage mean, and how has it shaped your identity?
Lorena Gutierrez : Being born and raised in Mexico is what makes my identity, culture, values and traditions. Since I'm having more exposure at work with more international teams. I'm always happy to let them know that I come from Mexico and bring to them a little bit of the fantastic culture of our country.
How has your cultural background influenced your career or the way you approach your work?
Lorena Gutierrez : I think that there's a part of Mexican culture, of the mystical, the stories and fantastical things that influence a lot of my approach to creating things like videos and campaigns. These elements help me to approach my creative side and get inspired to tell stories.
How do you celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, and why do you think it's important to recognize it in the workplace?
Lorena Gutierrez : Since I moved to an international team, I celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month by always having my culture and traditions present. Not denying where I come from and saying proudly, my heritage, I think for people that do live abroad or in other countries and have Hispanic heritage, it is a way to always remember. No matter how far you are from your roots, you always have them within you to be proud of.
What advice would you give to others in the Hispanic community, particularly young professionals entering the workforce?
Lorena Gutierrez : I will say don't lose your spark. As Guillermo del Toro said once “You, the young are in the exact age of desperation. I never felt more old and exhausted than when I was in my twenties. I said: My life has already passed me by, and I didn’t do anything. But I’m here to tell you no. So enjoy the journey. Learn, You don't have to have everything figured out yet fail and keep going.
