How did your doctors describe the treatment options (surgery and/or antibiotics) and did they recommend one treatment over the other?
Giulia Boggio: The doctor told me there were two options. The first was, was antibiotics and the second one was surgery. They explained the benefits of both. But they told me that antibiotics would actually mean that in the future I could get appendicitis again while having surgery implies removing your appendix for which I wasn't going to get appendicitis again. So I decided to go for surgery since I wanted to make sure I didn't get this again because it is quite dangerous if you're not able to treat it immediately. And I was going on a trip in the middle of the sea. So I decided to go for surgery.
