Speaker: Paula Umaña, Managing Director, Community Resiliency
Introduce yourself and tell us why fighting poverty and expanding opportunity is
so important to our region.
Paula Umaña: One of the most profound lessons of the pandemic is that access to food is not a given for everyone today. One in four families in our region are trapped below the poverty line and struggling to make ends meet. My name is Paula Umaña and I serve as the Managing Director of Community Resiliency for United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey. And I feel honored to steward solutions that help households in our region move from getting by to getting ahead. Through partnerships with 211 and hundreds of organizations trusted by their communities, my team works to ensure that people connect with food pantries, rental, and utility assistance in a timely fashion so that they can focus on what it really takes to pursue a fulfilling life. Let's meet the end of making ends meet. Please consider investing in our work. Thank you.
