Speaker: Amina Omar, Director, Community Resiliency
Introduce yourself and tell us why fighting poverty and expanding opportunity is
so important to our region.
Amina Omar: At United Way, we work on initiatives that move communities from poverty to stability and prosperity. We address immediate needs, but we care just as much about the big dreams. My name is Amina Omar, Director of Community Resiliency at United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey and I'm proud to lead our Digital Navigator Network. Since 2020, Digital Navigators have helped thousands of families get connected to affordable internet, get free and low cost devices and get the digital skills necessary to get online and get ahead today. Anyone can call 211 and get connected to a Digital Navigator for free. Digital Navigators have helped first-time college students get their very first laptop. They have supported seniors to learn how to protect their data and privacy through internet safety courses and they've helped job seekers find better paying jobs through digital skills and workforce classes. It's hard to get ahead if you can't get online, your support matters. Join us in this work. Thank you.
