Speaker: Oliver Bayes-Shelton, Underdawgs, Partner

Who are you and what's your background?

Oliver Bayes-Shelton: I'm Oliver Bayes-Shelton and you could call me a technologist. So what exactly is that? Well, essentially, I've spent all my career working in engineering. As a junior, all the way up to lead engineer and most recently the CTO. So what exactly is that? Well I have built, scaled, secured and led teams to build products. And how is that relevant to you right now? Well, I've worked with founders I've been the first employee, or I've worked in a venture studio to essentially find pain points or find new opportunities for people to build exciting products in. And hopefully people come to use them and love them. And that's why I'm here.

Why did you start Underdawgs?

Oliver Bayes-Shelton: So you must be asking yourself why are we not building a unicorn? Well, we tried, we failed a few times and we will try again at some point. But right now we want to work with exciting Founders, Corporates, SMEs or Venture Studios on helping them build something that solves real pain points. We've got first hand knowledge of how hard it is to build teams, scale products, secure those products and ultimately really solve hard hitting problems. Rami and I have spent so many hours playing around with different technologies, prototyping, building out proof of concepts for customers and ultimately, what we really enjoy doing is taking an idea and delivering that to the market.

Who do you work with?

Oliver Bayes-Shelton: We want to work with entrepreneurs, SMEs, Corporates or anyone who's got a really good idea. We know using the correct tools, using the right methodologies, we can help anybody turn an idea into a product. All we need to do is work together, understand the pain points, what really solves customer problems and build scalable, secure and robust technology using some of the best off the shelf tools we can find. Ultimately the product will iterate, and at that point you might wish to rebuild it using your own engineering teams, using a lot of code. We don't care, as long as we can get you to the point where you can validate a critical assumption that there is a pain point that people want solved.
