Speaker: Amber Jackson, Owner, The Black Leaf Tea & Culture Shop
Please briefly introduce yourself.
Amber Jackson: Hey y'all, I'm Amber Jackson, owner of Black Leaf. I am born and raised South Side Chicago. I moved to Rhode Island for a job in 2017. Upon arrival, I knew that I was gonna have some challenges, finding community of people like me that were black uh from other places also. And so I chose to create a company that utilized my degrees in food science and product development and in creating a product that reflected both community flavor and creativity. And with this, I launched my company in April of 2019. So it'll be five. This year, I launched the um young black professionals mixers and the T talk series in June of that year. And I opened the tea cafe, October 2023. Uh Black Leaf is an ecommerce business mainly, meaning that it mainly functions online. I sell across the country. I've sold into now 46 US states and territories and it is continuing to grow. I'm excited to see you all soon.
In a few sentences, what will you be speaking about at our event?
Amber Jackson: At the event, I'll be speaking about my experience as an entrepreneur, how I got started the challenges of being an entrepreneur and also how to use that platform to create community and expand as well.
What are you most looking forward to at the event?
Amber Jackson: I'm really looking forward to engaging with the kids that are there answer some questions hearing about your experiences, but also hearing about the experience of the other panelists too.
