Could you describe your overall experience with the Trauma-Resilient Professional certification program?

Tim Cart: Hello everybody. My name is Tim Card and I'm a science teacher here at Diego Valley East in El Cajon, California. I wanted to take just a moment of your time to describe my overall experience with the TRP training program put out by the folks over at Trek. Uh Firstly, amazing job the design of the courses themselves uh is superb. The learning management system um that was used to deliver the courses was very accessible, very easy to use. Uh I enjoyed the pacing of the courses, the, you know, the animations, the videos, all of the production and, and the the the um user interface and user experience was was very good. The content itself was I found to be engaging uh relevant and um very timely in terms of what we do as independent study teachers that learn for life and impactful in the sense that it really challenged a lot of the ways that I thought about things uh which is what good training does. And I left the training feeling like I had some work to do. Um And that was the main indicator for me that, that told me that this is important training, this is, this is good and probably needs to be taken by everyone. You know, if you're, if you're an independent study teacher in, in our country, you know, paces education is, is extremely important. So, and I think that this particular way of delivering it is one of the best that I've seen. So kudos to you, congratulations on your achievement. Uh It's important and I'm just very grateful to have the opportunity to talk about how great it is. So, thank you very much. Have a good day.

How have you implemented what you have learned in your day-to-day life?

Tim Cart: Hello again. Uh The question is, is how have I implemented what I've learned in my day to day life as it relates to the TRP training. I, I've implemented it in lots of ways. Um I think it's difficult not to implement in, in, in every aspect of life, but more especially here uh working with students in, in the students that we, we have here. Um you know, we know that 70% of students nationwide at the very least deal with anxiety and, and heightened levels of stress due to a number of factors which, you know, we, we are starting to understand more about more and more about as we go. And um you know, some of the practices that, you know, the, the training, you know, teaches us move the needle, it really helps, it helps with that. Um at the very least it helps to, to bring levels stress levels down and um help students to, to center and get grounded so that they can do what they're here to do, which is to graduate. So I, I use it in that, in, in a very real sense, in a very practical sense. Every single day with, you know, breathing and, um, you know, full face listening and, and trying to partner with students to get them to where they're going, where they're at, um, in a way that, that edifies them and helps them feel better about what they're doing. So, uh, yeah, that's it.

What was your most meaningful takeaway from the Trauma-Resilient Professional certification program?

Tim Cart: Hello again. Uh The question is, is what was your most meaningful takeaway from the uh TRP certification program? That's actually difficult to answer because all of it is so important. Um But I think one of the most meaningful things for me is just, it was, is just the solidification of the realization that, that this is such a huge problem that trauma and uh you know, adverse childhood experiences are, are such a huge part of our culture. It, it, it's everywhere and for years and years and years, I think our society has kind of shoved it all under the rug and just, and just kind of, you know, press on and, and not really deal with it. Well, that doesn't really work. And in order to, you know, to move forward and to be healthy as a society, we need to deal with those things. And I think that, um you know, starting with Doctor F's work and then moving on into what Trek has done with that. And, you know, the way that they've um made it more robust and, and more accessible to just like everyday people. I, I think that that is just evidence to me of how much of a problem trauma really is in our culture. So I think it was just for me, in terms of meaning, that was, that was what it was for me.

Would you recommend this certification to a friend or colleague? If so, why?

Tim Cart: Hello again. Uh The question is, is, would I recommend a certification to a friend or a colleague? If so? Why? Absolutely. Um I recommend it to everyone that I know regardless of what industry you work in, regardless of who you are. This is relevant information to our culture, to our society. And um it's indicative of a movement of a growing movement of, of people who don't just want to allow it to sit, you know, we as trauma is only professionals. It's not just that we know this stuff, it's that we've, we've decided we're gonna do something about it and that's a very different thing. Um We're going to, you know, we have skin in the game, you know. And so I think that the more people take this kind of training and specifically this training, the, the better our chances are of normalizing um or destigmatize, you know, uh the effects of trauma, you know, mental illness in general uh in all of the, the negative aspects to our society of, of trauma. And so I think the more that we make this a part of everyday life, the, the better we'll be. So, yeah, I absolutely would recommend this to, to anyone and everyone.
