How have you used FPET in your country?
Hello everyone. This is Naveen Roy as part of Track20 India team. We are supporting the Family Planning Division, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare Government of India by providing annual estimates of mCPR, unmet need for modern methods, demand satisfied with modern methods, and impact indicators such as unintended pregnancies, averted, births averted, maternal deaths averted, etc. by using various Track20 tools. The Ministry frequently uses these annual estimates at various platforms like PIP meetings, state review meetings, and other FP activities. Apart from this to monitor monitor the performance of FP program on routine basis, we also analyze periodic program data which we receive from 37 estates and monthly service statistics family planning data based on these data and estimates of family planning indicators we prepare a program note for each of the 37 Indian estates to track the performance of family planning program at national level and state level as well. These program notes are basically used by by NHM. Among various Track20 tools, a web based application called Family Planning Estimation tool is used to produce both national and subnational annual estimates based on all available survey data and service statistics data related to the family planning services in India. We have basically adopted a bottom-up approach to compute the annual estimates of family planning indicator at the national level. After excluding the outliers from the survey data at the subnational level, or you can say state level, An Excel based Track20 annual estimate calculator is also being used to calculate the estimates of key FP2030 indicators and explore the impact of different scenarios of family planning program scale-up on various outcomes such as mCPR, prevalence of modern contraceptives, unmet need for modern methods, demand satisfied with modern methods, unintended pregnancies averted, births averted, maternal deaths averted, et cetera. It produces easy to understand graphs that summarizing progress towards the national goal.
