Before thrive, I was anxious and I was overwhelmed and I had very little capacity to handle stressful situations after practicing the skills and being introduced to them and having people to practice with, for example, the skills of quieting, the skill of sharing appreciation, the skill of growing joy. Um It's, it's changed my life.
The skill of appreciation has made such a difference in my life because it's just made my life sweeter. I love being able to in the moment knowing that I'm building appreciation and I'm connecting. I'm bonding with the person that we're appreciating together. Um whether we're having a great time or whether we're remembering together, the skill of appreciation simply makes that moment sweeter.
Kim: I think my favorite skill is appreciation, 'Creating Appreciation'. It's been so helpful for me personally because I didn't naturally do that. And in our family we've used it so many ways between me and my husband, but in our extended family and in our nuclear family, to get our relational circuits back on and to connect with the Lord and grow our own joy, and capacity.
I love to talk about appreciation in my work as a child psychologist and a parent coach. I love to teach the appreciation skill, but it's because it has been so meaningful for me.
