Speaker: Shani A Smith
Why did you invite Therese to be a guest on your show?
Shani A Smith: The very first time I heard Therese Gopaul-Robinson speak on the platform, I was so drawn to her energy. It was so magnetic. We had to have her as our special guest on the Empowering You Show because we wanted to share her message with as many people as we can. When she spoke about the impostor syndrome. There were so many things that she brought up that I resonated with. I don't think there's anyone out there who has not at some point in their lifetime, not succumb to the impostor syndrome. We lose our voice, we lose who we are and then we have to do the work to find our true authentic self. She has the tools for individuals and for corporations to level up, be accountable and define their voice again so that the leader within can come out and really shine. I am so honored to have spoken with Therese and I cannot wait to speak with her again.
During the interview what stood out about Therese?
Shani A Smith: The thing about Therese that stands out more than anything is that she authentically cares, her level of compassion shines so brightly that you feel comfortable letting down your guards and really showing who you are so that you can get to the core of what's really going on and let your authentic self shine.
What is one thing that resonated with you during the conversation?
Shani A Smith: One thing that resonated the most with me during my conversation with Therese was learning how to accept the responsibility and be accountable for the decisions that I made that were solely up to me. So there was no blame game and it wasn't what tools that I thought I needed that weren't available. It was about learning how to be the best leader I could be with what I had. And it was that very moment that I dropped the veil and took the mask off and accepted the role that I chose to take. And I will, I really will never forget that moment because it was such an aha moment for me to remember that somebody was a mentor to me. Somebody was a great leader to me. And it was so important that no matter what kind of chaos was going on, that I needed to be the same thing for the people that I'm leading.
Would you recommend Therese for other shows? If so, why?
Shani A Smith: I would highly recommend having Therese Gopaul-Robinson as your keynote speaker. Her message has global impact. There isn't anyone who hasn't dealt with impostor syndrome, whether it be firsthand themselves and, or leadership. If we can all understand how to identify it and how to combat it with the level of passion and caring that she exudes, we would be in a much better position.
