Speaker: Natalie Ralphs, School Mirae
What was going on in your life and career that made you want to join NLCA?
Natalie Ralphs: I was introduced to life coaching about 5 years ago. I subscribed to a life coaches program and followed her and came across a couple of other coaches that I followed. I was really interested from the beginning. I felt a lot of my own transformation in a lot of areas of my life and was interested from the beginning and eventually becoming a coach. About 2 years ago, I went through a different certification, loved it, but never. Got myself out the door to actually coaching and creating a business, and then I stumbled across nurse coaching. Um, that caught my eye because it was an opportunity to leverage my nursing license in the coaching world. And um I found Lauren and Shelby, and they just resonated with me and eventually I joined Nurse Life Coach Academy. It has been and in the middle of that program, it's been a great program. The thing that really. Made me decide to jump in and do it was um. The, the structure of it and the idea that I knew that it was gonna push me out the door to actually get out and coaching and starting my business and actually doing it instead of being an eternal learner. So, um, and that has been the case. It has been a great a great opportunity to start coaching. Um, there's been a lot of support. The other thing they do really well in nurse Life Coach Academy is that they Uh The modules are enough information but not too much information, so it's not overwhelming, but it's just the right amount of information to help you know the the important parts of coaching without being overwhelming. So that's one thing that I really loved about this life of Coach Academy as well.
Natalie Ralphs: I came across life coaching about 5 years ago. Since then, I have followed and learned from many life coaches, and really the things that I have learned through life coaching has been life-changing. It has changed the way that I experienced the world and my relationships every day. I knew early on that I had a desire to become a life coach myself. 2 or 3 years ago, I found a different coaching certification program that I went through and completed, and it was fantastic. I loved everything about it. However, I never got off the ground. I never made a business. I was kind of in an eternal learning phase, and I was very happy there. Um, and then I came across the nurse Life Coach Academy last year. It caught my attention for two reasons. One, an opportunity to leverage my nursing license in the coaching world that I had grown to love. And then 2, I knew that it would be the nudge to push me out the door and do something with what I've been learning. Um, and it's been great in both regards. Career-wise, where I have been when I joined Nurse Life Coach Academy, I have been a stay at home mom of 5 kids for 19 years, and then I got a part-time job as a school nurse. That's what I do now. And, um, and until I transitioned to coaching. So, The nurse side coach Academy has been great. I've been so glad that I joined. And it's great.
How did you do with balancing your life and the coursework?
Natalie Ralphs: Balancing the coursework with the other things in my life has been challenging but doable. I'm doing this course during the summer, so I have all of my kids at home, which has been 4 at the time. One just graduated from high school, so we've been trying to launch him into his next phase all while doing all the other things. Um, so I have appreciated the flexibility of the course. I probably got a little bit later start than some people did, but then I was able to catch up. As I was going. I did a lot of listening on the go, and then was able to come back later and read through some of the things in addition to listening and completing assignments, um, when I have time to sit down and actually do it. I have also, um, just found pockets of time, sometimes it's early morning, sometimes it's late at night to finish the coursework. So It's challenging to do with a household full of kids, but doable when it's something you want to do.
What do you see in your future as a nurse life coach?
Natalie Ralphs: At this point, I plan to open a private coaching practice and coach one on one for a while, and then eventually quit my school nursing job and just focus on coaching. Uh, I am still practicing and learning how to dream big, so I am excited to see what comes in the future.
How have you grown personally?
Natalie Ralphs: How have I grown personally? Um, that's an interesting thing to think about. I feel like I have grown a ton through just all of my life coaching experiences over the last 5 years. When I started learning from life coaches, it has really changed how I experience the world and my relationships every day. The biggest distinction that I have gained is The the ability that I have to create whatever experience that I want and to understand and have clarity around the, the part of my life that I am responsible for and the things in life that other people are responsible for and And the fact that I'm responsible for most of it, for really whatever I experience in my life, I have control over. Um, and so it's, it's still a process of learning how to create things that I want in my life and the experiences I want with different relationships, um, and life in general. When it comes to the nurse like Coach Academy specifically, and my experience in the last few years, few months, sorry, when it comes to the nurse like Coach Academy and the experience I've had over the last few months, I would say the biggest thing has been Learning how to be a beginner. I have been in the coaching world for a few years and always thought I would be a great coach, but it's harder than I thought it would be, and most of that has been Being able to. Except the fact that I'm I'm a beginner and that I'm learning and sitting with the discomfort of that and knowing that there's no bypassing the beginner face and being willing to support myself and seek support from others as needed, um, through that process. And so that has really helped me grow a lot to just lean into the discomfort and do something that sometimes is scary or that I feel like. I could be, I wish I was better at, um, and then also all of the content and the modules, a lot of it has been reviewed for me because I've been in the coaching role. But at the same time, like, you learn something new every time, every exposure, every time you, um, learn and relearn something. You learn something new. So that has been my journey. And growth.
What would you say to a nurse considering joining Nurse Life Coach Academy?
Natalie Ralphs: What would I say to a nurse considering joining the nurse Life Coach Academy, I would say that if this is at all, um, calling to you, then I would say just go for it. I think it's a really great entry point and an excellent program, uh, at an affordable price. I think that if you're at all interested in the coaching industry, this is the place to start. Uh, it has been a great experience for me. A few of the highlights and strengths of this program. one, I love that Laura and Shelmi are really different from each other. To be honest, when I first was looking at the program, one of them resonated with me better than the other. But as I've gone through the program, I can see how much of a strength that is to be able to learn from different personalities, um, and that includes the other mentors in their program as well. I've been able to learn something valuable from each of them. And so I really love that about the program, being able to learn from their different perspectives, their different approaches, and just seeing there's more than one right way to do it. Multiples. Um, the other thing that I think is fantastic about the program is there, the way that they've laid out their modules is really useful and it's a really effective way to do it. And I feel like this is huge. They don't give you so much information that it's overwhelming. They just give you the information that you need. I mean, it's a lot of information. It takes time to go through it, but each module is pretty short, pretty concise, and you're really just getting the meat of the message and, and information that you can take and apply without getting bogged down by too much information. Um, the other thing that is great about the nurse Life Coach Academy is there's excellent support, the cohort calls, and the peer coaching and the opportunity to connect with and um have some support by our peers, but also be able to show up to calls and Q&A's and be able to get the support from the instructors that we need. So it has been great. I like I said, if anyone was interested in the coaching world, I think this is the place to start and jump in.
