What was going on in your life and career that made you want to join NLCA?

Jeni Wood: Hi, I'm Jenny, and I made the choice to, uh, join Nurse Life Coach Academy because I was at a point in my career journey where I just wasn't quite sure, um, what I wanted to be when I grew up. So I had been exploring for a couple of years looking at different programs. This one seemed to fit the bill. Uh, when I started the program, I Wasn't sure where I wanted to be. Since then, I have taken a job that I absolutely love and really have found that this class uh speaks to me in management and how I talk to my employees, to my coworkers, um, and myself. So it's been a really good decision and I'm so glad that I chose to take the course.

How did you do with balancing your life and the coursework?

Jeni Wood: Um, balancing my life and coursework has been, um, a labor of love. I have learned a lot about myself going into this program. I had the mindset of how am I gonna do this. I take a job that I work on call. Um, I have family to take care of. I work full time Monday through Friday, and it really, it worked, it all worked out. Yes, I had to plan. Yes, I had to have help for my family, um, had to dig deep and really look at my why, what I wanted to do and the sacrifices I wanted to make, but it's, it's been so enjoyable that the time I've spent doing this and the the rearranging in my schedule that I've had to do, um, hasn't, hasn't been bad. You come away from the coaching sessions from the labs from. The lessons just fulfilled and um kind of in a sense of awe of all the things out there that you're learning.

What do you see in your future as a nurse life coach?

Jeni Wood: I'm not 100% sure what I see in my future as a nurse life coach. What I do see are tons of possibilities, um, for the immediate future, I plan on using this knowledge and certification to help me in my everyday job to help me really work with my employees, uh, to get to the root of why things are going on and why they feel the way they do and preventing burnout and preventing job stress that I see so much. In the future, who knows? Um, Maybe opening up my own practice, maybe having a side business, maybe going into corporate coaching. It's the possibilities are endless and I just love that there are so many possibilities out there.

How have you grown personally?

Jeni Wood: How have I grown personally? Um, I think I've grown in leaps and bounds. I am not the same person now than when I started the program, the amount of self-reflection and self work that's required, um, to really fulfill with this, the intent of this course is amazing. I have grown in how I view myself, how I view others, how I approach my day. I, my routine is different in the morning. I start my morning with more gratitude and my attitude towards life in general is a lot different.

What would you say to a nurse considering joining Nurse Life Coach Academy?

Jeni Wood: I would tell a nurse looking to join or considering to join Nurse Life Coach Academy. Um, the same thing that I was asked when I was questioning it. If not now, when so many things take our attention, so many things get in our way, so many things capture our priorities and. You can use it as an excuse to continue on with life, and in 5 years, you're gonna be where you are. Um, so really reach into your why. Be OK with taking time for yourself. Be OK with improving yourself. Be OK with uh the unknown. Take the leap of faith. You won't regret it. This course is amazing. I can honestly say that even if I never use any of the skills I've learned. To work as a nurse coach, the self work that's done and the relationship I've made are invaluable.
