Speaker: Brittany Wiegand

Brittany Wiegand: I would say to a new nurse coach contemplating and investing and make the leap that they should definitely do it if they think it's something they wanna do.

What made you decide to invest in Make the Leap?

Brittany Wiegand: I think for the past like 1.5, 2 years, um, since October 2024, I had been like passively looking for a way to get out of bedside nursing. But not go into a higher role like nurse practitioner or find like a normal boring office 9 to 5 job, um. And I had been passively looking, but nothing really struck a chord. I fell across the nurse coach collective and signed up for them. And then um. Since I be because I decided to do that, I just like jumped all in and I found your guys's podcast. From there, that's where I learned about make the League and it was. Kind of a no-brainer to sign up with you guys or invest and make the leap, uh, because of the way you created the podcast to like fully resonate, uh, and relate. Like, I felt like I was talking to my nurse friends at the nursing station in a sense, just about the day or what's going on or what's next. Um, but I knew like the moment I learned about the nurse Coach Collective and signed up there, I knew that this was something I wanted to do, and I was like, I, you know, I'm not that I'm old, but I'm getting older and I'm getting tired at the bedside, and I need to figure out how to move, move on in a sense, and I was like, this is it, and I gotta figure it out and I've got to do it. If I don't do it now, I'm never gonna do it just like I'd been passively looking for the next step. Um, so I could like play around for the next 2 or 3 years before I decided to make the leap, or I could actually make the leap now. And that's what I decided to do.

What has changed personally and professionally since going through the program?

Brittany Wiegand: Um, since I've just or since I've gone through the program or even started the program, I feel like a lot of things have changed for me, um. I came into it, um, not stressed out, but at the beginning, the first month, I was kind of stressed out because I was still doing, I was working full time as a travel nurse. I was working my way through my pro bono clients with the nurse Coach Collective, and then starting, um. The beginning of. Make the leap with all of the modules. Um, so I felt like I had a lot on my plate, but at the same time, looking back, I probably could have handled it differently. However, um, I did do the 75 hard challenge and that really changed a lot for me on time management. Um. I feel like I look at things a lot differently now because of it and um I just like handle situations differently. Um, I'm not as reactive to different things, not that I was necessarily reactive, but I feel like I don't let things stress me out as Quickly as they would have used to, or I just sit back, relax and kind of digest what's happening before moving on or making decision or reacting. Um, professionally, I transitioned from a full like full-time travel nursing to PRN at the hospital that I was traveling with, and since then it's like literally like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders going from having to like. Work 3 12 hour days, um, on their time to working, uh, 3 12 hour days on my time in a sense is like a huge deal. I haven't, uh, when I first transitioned, I was working those 3 12s or like 2 12s and an 8, something like that for the first month or so, and then since then it's really been like maybe 2 shifts here, a shift there, things like that, nothing full time. Um. Yeah, I, I really, I don't know, I feel like I'm instead of like chasing the next shift or the next task or the next thing to do, um, going from one thing to the next, I feel like I'm actually being like thoughtful and mindful of each one of my days, um, instead of like rolling out of bed and going to the next thing. Uh, it's really kind of nice, so I don't know if it was the the make the leap or if it was just me hitting a breaking point, but it's definitely got to be a combination of all of it. So thank you guys.

What are you most proud of so far!

Brittany Wiegand: I think what I'm most proud of so far is actually choosing to do this. It could have been really easy to just like. Stick with the same old, same old work, a normal job, or find a job that I don't truly love, um, but instead deciding to like step out of my comfort zone in a way and make, choose my own, uh, path or career or what I do. Um, so I'm kind of proud of that. Also, proud of like who I am becoming over this course and um how it's or. Who I'm becoming over this journey and how it's helping me. Um, it's kind of nice to see and like sitting back and looking at where I was like just even like 4 or 5 months ago versus who I am now. And even my husband has noticed different changes and he's like, you, you seem a lot happier, um, you carry yourself in a different way. Uh, so that's really nice, nice to see and hear.

What would you say to a new nurse coach contemplating investing in Make the Leap?

Brittany Wiegand: I would say to a new nurse coach contemplating and investing and make the leap that they should definitely do it if they think it's something they wanna do. Um, if you know it's not for you, then obviously don't do it, but if If it's pulling at your heartstrings, if it's, if you know it's something you wanna do, but you don't think now is the right time, um, I would definitely jump in and just get started. Uh, I started my, um, certificate program, the nurse Coach Collective, in October of 2024, and then I started Make the Leap in, uh, January 2025. I graduated from Make the Leap at the end of April of 2025, and my nurse coach collective graduation is in two weeks from now, so May of 2025. It was a lot all at once, but the two of them together was pretty helpful, um, you know, ending with my pro bono clients as I'm getting ready to start my proposals, uh, with Make the leap, it, it worked out kind of nicely. Um. It is help jumpstart me in a way that I probably would have taken a long time to be able to do, regardless of how many podcast episodes um Shelby and Laura put out because those are great. And I originally, before signing up to this, was like, you know what, I could probably do this on my own just based off of all the information that they provide with those podcasts, but there's something to be said about somebody holding you accountable, having to show up every week. Uh, with your lead, whether it's Shelby, Laura, Amy, whoever it may be, having something to. Someone to show up for, to prove yourself to in a sense, um, to hold you accountable for is a huge deal. Not that you like you are doing it for yourself, but do, having that person there to help support you being your coach, um, is also a big deal. So I would say without a doubt, definitely sign up for it if you have any hesitations, but you know it's something you want to do.
