Speaker: Maureen Dalton
What was the main reason you decided to try the APOS shoe?
Maureen Dalton: I chose APOS shoes to see if I could delay having hip and knee replacements. I really didn't want to have the time off to do that to go through the surgery. I've had lots of other surgery. I knew that both my hips and knees were heading towards replacement, so I decided to try APOS shoes to see if that would help.
Did the APOS Shoe work for you in terms of improving your pain and mobility?
Maureen Dalton: I've noticed a difference in an improvement. Whilst wearing the shoes, I first noticed that I could go up more stairs before the pain got really bad. So initially, you know, two or three steps and I was struggling, and then I could find I could get up to seven steps Then, unfortunately, I spent five weeks in hospital in a totally different condition. Nothing to do with joints. But I did. Didn't move very much. When I came back, my joints were bad, and I was thinking, Oh, the shoes haven't helped much. I was advised to wait until I was stronger. Got a bit of my initial strength back before restarting the shoes. But when I restarted the shoes, I have noticed a marked improvement. And it really has emphasised to me how much my joints have improved
Would you recommend the APOS Shoe to others?
Maureen Dalton: I would recommend people try using APOS shoes. I'm sure there are some people who won't get on with them who will struggle? But I found, in fact, it became relatively easy to put wearing the shoes for an hour into my day while I was pottering around the house. In fact, it probably made me keep the house tidier because I knew I basically had an hour of that. I could work on tidying the house because I was wearing the shoes and I wanted to keep wearing them while I loaded the dishwasher. Did the, loaded the washing machine, hung out the washing, all these sort of things. So for me, it's worked.
