Dilara Cossette, Demand Gen Agency Owner
Freelance Alliance Graduate
How did you get started as a freelancer?
It's been probably over seven years specifically in demand generation. I started my company a few years ago, but it was always as a side gig. So basically, I left my full time job eight months ago and I just dedicated 100% of my time to my agency.
How were things going before you took the course?
Now, we're a team of five. I still work um you know, on demand generation initiatives which I love. But, you know, sometimes it might be a little bit too much because I'm doing sales outreach, demand gen, you know, team management and so on. But it's, it's a roller coaster that's for sure.
What made you choose the Freelance Alliance course?
I was not looking really for a course because at that moment, you know, I had like a limited um kind of like time I would say even, right? Because I was working almost full time. And also I, I was like really short on cash flow. So something like I wanted to try, I'll be honest with you because it was free courses, free, three courses. And I'm like, why not?
What were some highlights from the course?
The processes especially and overall like, you know, the direction. Something I was already doing and hearing that, "Ok, this is the best way to do that" gave me so much confidence.
I would say sales that was something like resonated a lot. Uh And it, it was really the most um impressive module, at least for me because I'm still struggling with sales outreach and just like the pipeline.
But I've learned a lot and like, you know, the way how to make sales, especially the most significant portion was to close the deals, like all these calls, something I implemented and I saw results right away. So I was able to close deals faster. And um I didn't have like, you know, hesitations from client side, right? Because like I spent time more way more time understanding their data, trying to understand their pains. And I saw really good results in closing clients.
What is your advice for getting the most value out of the course?
I was actually implementing things every week. So I was blocking time in my calendar to work on implementing the things week on week. And I didn't miss any weeks, I didn't want to learn, learn and then forget I was really doing my homework. And that actually helped me to establish and improve my processes.
How has your mindset changed since taking the course?
I'm seeing like way further than I was used to. So basically, I was just projecting a few months ahead and now I think that I have more comprehensive structure. The goal at the beginning was just like to get to the average same, you know, yearly income, working full time and just like, you know, getting the same as net revenue. And now I'm not only seeing as a source of income, I'm more seeing it as an investment opportunity overall,
What advice would you give to others considering The Freelance Alliance?
I think like for someone who's just starting or scaling or just thinking about like, you know, shifting from like a solo freelancer to running a company and become a solopreneur It's perfect, really definitely take it, you will learn a lot and there are like several modules that are essential. When you launch a company, you can't know everything you can't learn and then launch you launch and then you learn. I think like this course will try to remove a lot of pressure and just like establish certain processes that are crucial and not necessarily people launching the company to know those things.
I will definitely recommend it was every single penny invested in that course. And thank you so much for that. I've learned a lot and also your coaching sessions, your support was incredible.
