Why did you become a member of the CPCU Society?
Rob Galbraith, CPCU: I joined the CPCU Society right after I earned my CPCU designation back in 2003. I started as a member really because my boss encouraged me to do so. He took me to a local chapter meeting, and I really enjoyed the people that I met there. I enjoyed the speaker that was presenting continuing education. I thought it was a great opportunity just to stay current. I had spent so much time earning the designation, and I was new in my career in the insurance industry and really wanted to stay abreast of developments in the industry. Over the last two decades, I really have grown beyond that. I still enjoy the continuing education offerings the Society provides, but I've met so many wonderful people, not just locally, but really all over the country and indeed all over the world that I can connect with, both industry professionals that are closer to underwriting, where I spent the bulk of my career, but in other disciplines as well, along claims, product managers, you know, many, many others. And then folks that work at many different types of companies, not just personal lines, but also commercial, agents and brokers, you name it. So you know, I really enjoyed just the variety of folks that I met after I became a member of the CPCU Society and that's why I continue to renew each year.
