Tell us about you and who you worked with at CFO Centre?
Mike Gaburo: Hey, this is Mike Gaburo I'm the CEO of Igloo Software, and I'm recording this on behalf of Paul Miller Paul Miller Paul was a tech centre, CFO, who helped us out tremendously here at Igloo.
What one or two big issues/untapped opportunities were you facing before we started working with you?
Mike Gaburo: When Paul got here to Igloo, he had a good team, but really we were in need of a stabilizing force, in need of someone to step back and kind of see the big picture. Someone to help advance our reporting and sort out our KPI assessments. Someone to help us think about balance sheet issues, debt financing, some foreign exchange issues that we had, and Paul did a really nice job of, you know, not only providing stability but also helping us move forward.
What have been the benefits to your business specifically?
Mike Gaburo: So, having Paul with us, having Paul as our interim CFO really benefited Igloo tremendously. It gave us technical capability, you know, someone who had been there and done that as we faced, different strategic and operating issues, and also Paul blended in really, really well with our whole team and did a nice job of cross functional collaboration and communication and really fit in well at a time that we really needed him.
What have the benefits been to you personally?
Mike Gaburo: As CEO, I can't overstate the impact of having a trusted, competent, capable CFO who fits well with the culture and with the pace of the company. So as a growing private equity backed software business, I took a tremendous comfort and felt a lot of peace of mind having Paul on the team, if only for a few months.
What would you say to other business owners considering taking on a part-time CFO?
Mike Gaburo: So for other CEOs who might be considering an interim CFO, like Paul Miller, you know, I would obviously recommend Paul Miller if your facts and your circumstances were at all similar to ours. But you know, for me, it was to try to find somebody that, you know, fit culturally who in our case as a Canadian company had great comfort with Canadian GAAP, and also software experience. So, you know, you're never going to find somebody that fits precisely into the contours of the company and the role but CFO Centre did a great job of matching me with Paul and Paul brought a lot of existing experiences to the table that paid off for us in a big way.
