What made you decide to explore the part-time CFO model?

Ian Lang: Hi, I'm Ian Lang. I'm the General Manager of Green Tractors, a John Deere dealership in Central Ontario. We started engaging with the CFO Centre 3.5 years ago. Our CFO was retiring and we felt our accounting department could handle the day to day activities. We just needed somebody that we could call when we came into complex situations, and that's how we started out with the CFO Centre.

What have been the benefits to your business specifically?

Ian Lang: The benefits of the CFO Centre has brought to Green Tractors is the experience that our contact Bill has brought to us. For instance, we are now using products from the bank that we haven't used before that Bill was familiar with. Bill has also helped us with shareholder changes and is currently helping us move to audited financials.

What have the benefits been to you personally?

Ian Lang: The CFO Centre has brought to me things like it has saved us time has also brought stability to our organization. I really like the fact that it supplies an extra set of eyes to situations so that we can see it through a different lens. And the fourth thing is it did save us money by making the move to the CFO Centre.

What would you say to other business owners considering taking on a part-time CFO?

Ian Lang: If you're considering the CFO Centre, I would strongly encourage you to take a look at it, investigate it. I'd actually sit down with them as well, because they can always customize a solution that will fit your needs. We always thought that we had to have somebody in place to handle these situations on a day to day basis, but it can be handled remotely, and it actually can be done on a part time basis as well.

What message would you like to say to your CFO?

Ian Lang: I just want to say a big thank you to Bill's Zerter our CFO Centre contact. He's been a great supporter to our organization. The thing I like the best is that Bill is only a phone call away. If we're ever stuck in a situation, we can always reach out to Bill and he's very quick to respond and always can find a solution that's going to solve the problem as well.
