Could you please share your #1 tip for sales success or a piece of advice that you believe would be most valuable for other ACBJ sellers ?
Cheryl Hood: So, my number one sales tip for success, if there is such a thing, I have to say confidence, and this is coming from someone who has struggled with an inferiority complex, a good part of my life. So I would say that I wasn't always the most confident person. But I don't mean that full of yourself, I am better than you, cocky swagger type confidence. I am talking about the confidence you get by being the best version of yourself. And that takes some work, especially in the competitive sales world. Learning and knowing as much as you can about your product, your clients. The internet is an incredible thing. What you are bringing to the table. Just be confident in that. I have never really looked at myself as a salesperson. In fact, if someone had told me years ago that I would be a salesperson for the majority of my career, I would have run away and laughed or both. But instead, I like being what I call an idea generator and solution provider, using my talents in the best of ways that I can. And then once I learn what a client wants to achieve, I'll often think out of the box instead of straight up print and digital. Of course there are times for the simpler plans, I get that, but I have been able to grow my desk by coming back with ideas that touch on the client's strategic goals and objectives, and that make them stand out with their messaging and their approach. But the bottom line for me is believing in myself as well as The Business Journals' audience and ability to reach them.
