Speaker: Steven Jones, MD, Orthopaedic Surgeon, North Oaks Health System
Steven Jones, MD: My name is Stephen Jones. I am an orthopaedic surgeon in Southeast Louisiana with sports medicine specialty training, and I've completed my Part II Board Examination last year in July of 2025.
Before taking the Part II Board Prep Course, how were you feeling about your case submissions and oral defense? What changed after?
Steven Jones, MD: Prior to my Board Review Prep Course, I felt OK about my cases and case defense, but I certainly wasn't as confident as I could have been. The Part II Examination is very unique. It's quite foreign to us in terms of types of tests that we've taken in our careers. And so, after the Review Prep Course, I felt much more confident with my cases, with the mock presentations and the whole experience. It was incredibly helpful.
Steven Jones, MD: In my opinion, by far the most helpful strategy or piece of information that I got from the prep course, was understanding the flow of the exam and what to sort of expect on the day of the examination. The test itself is only about 3 hours, which is shorter than you may think. And so, the 12 cases that you prepare and present, you're gonna be wondering what to include, how much detail to go into, which angles to take and things to describe. It can be very, very overwhelming. And so the Board Review Course really allows you to consolidate, synthesize, and get an understanding of what the examiners expect from you on test day and how you should prepare.
Steven Jones, MD: This course is undoubtedly worth your time and effort. The feedback that you can get from the faculty, and even seeing other test takers, your peers present their cases, the flow and the back and forth that you'll experience and learn about, gives you a very good understanding of what the actual test day will be like. It just gives you a good metric of where you stand and where your cases and the compiling that you've done, where it fits with some of your colleagues, peers, and then what the examiners may want from you on test day. That is an invaluable thing that you'll get out of this course.
