Speaker: J. Michael Wiater, MD, AAOS/ASES Reverse & Anatomic Total Shoulder Arthroplasty
J. Michael Wiater, MD: Hello, I'm Michael Wiater. I'm one of the course directors along with Joe Abboud for this year's 2026 AAOS and ASES co-branded Reverse and Anatomic Total Shoulder Arthroplasty Course. It's going to be held on October 2nd and 3rd at the AAOS Learning Center in Rosemont, Illinois, and I really hope you'll join us. We have a fantastic course planned this year with some outstanding top-notch faculty who'll be coming in to teach you about a lot of the hot button topics in shoulder arthroplasty. Like the management of the subscapularis tendon. How to treat and manage humeral and glenoid bone loss, how to perform reverse total shoulder arthroplasty for four-part fractures, how to prevent and manage complications of reverse and anatomic total shoulder arthroplasty. There's abundant time set aside for on-hand surgical skills sessions in the laboratory on your own cadaver specimens. I'm really excited this year because we're going to have one of the faculty do a live reverse total shoulder arthroplasty surgical demonstration using augmented reality. One thing we do every year that's a lot of fun at the beginning of the course is allow the registrants to vote and pick the faculty that they'd like to see do the live surgical demonstrations. At the end of the first day, we have a great happy hour of networking event with food and drink. This is one of the highest rated AAOS surgical skills courses every year, so it's going to be a great learning opportunity, a lot of fun, and I really hope you'll join us.
