What do you hope teachers will take away from this course?
Nancy Weinstein: My greatest hope is that teachers walk away from this class with a new lens on learner variability. A new understanding of why that student might struggle to write a five paragraph essay but can nail every single algebra problem and hint. It's not just about motivation or why and how they can see gifts and students that they know struggle, but yet they know there's something there that they want to unpack. But I hope through this course we can go a step further than saying that's really interesting to know about that student. But helping teachers have a real sense of what they can do to help those students. And I believe that they'll find that those are things that are not so different from what they already do, but they are small tweaks that can make a world of difference for their students.
What do you love about this course?
Nancy Weinstein: What I love most about this course is that the real focus is about teachers learning more about themselves, understanding why they loved or didn't love certain parts of school and how that affects them today, how it impacts their teaching in so many ways. This course is far more about teachers understanding themselves than understanding their students. And for that reason, teachers love this course and summing it all up. What I love most is that I can give teachers something that they love to do and that they truly enjoy and that helps them because I love our teachers. Thanks so much.
