Phebe Star - vinyl overview

Video Transcript

Phebe Starr: So originally when I set out to do another album, I was really frustrated with how quick everything has been going in the music industry and how much a great song can be lost. So I was like, Wouldn't it be cool just to do a whole album that's on vinyl. And completely offline. And my management and team hated that idea.

Phebe Starr: I stand by that, that's how the album should have always been listened to. So for me, the choice of doing it in vinyl, it's part of the process and seeing through the vision, and I wanted it on vinyl because the whole meaning behind the album is having things that last. Having things that stay here and having kind of an argument with this new, quick, fast, slippery, plastic world that we're living in, because I wanted to make something that didn't feel so transactional, that it, it felt Like it was a secret that was offline and it didn't exist in this hyper commercial, world that just wanted to suck you in for a moment and spit you out. And so I called it dirt for that that reason that it's meant to be more organic and more grows slowly and it's an organism that happens offline.
