Speaker: Damian Pearce
Tell us the name of the album you are reviewing. Who is it by?
Damian Pearce: Hello, my name's Damien. Suitcase Records have kindly sent me one of their test pressings to review. so thank you to everyone at Suitcase Records for doing that. I'm no music expert. I'm just a guy who likes music. So, it's a great opportunity. Thank you. the album that they've sent me is, the Stone Fruit Sessions by Trovaire. Trovaire are electronic or a trip hop duo from Northern New South Wales. The two guys involved were separately involved in electronic music earlier in their careers. but have come together now and the Stone Fruit Sessions is their debut LP.
Is there a standout song for you?
Damian Pearce: There are so many great songs on this album. Paris, the first track which is playing right behind me now is a cool little way to ease yourself into the whole album. There's a song at the end of side a so easy to love, which just has this beautiful happy poppy vibe that just makes you feel so warm and happy inside on side. B there's this song Fear and loathing. That's this story about a man on a drug addict adventure throughout Los Angeles that has this crazy frantic William Shatner vibe. It's different to everything else on the album, but it's really cool. I love it. But my favorite is the second single they released To Leave The Sea. It's got this beautiful scan Spanish guitar riff all through it. That really gets you moving and dancing and yeah, every time it goes. Uh I love it.
Tell us more.....what did you think of the record?
Damian Pearce: Yeah, this is a really beautiful album. I'm really glad that I got the opportunity to check it out and give it a listen, which I've done several times now because it's great. It reminds me a lot of other electronic or chill or trip out or house music. I first listened to a long time ago bands like Air or Greenskeepers or Saint Germain or gold rap. It's, it's got a lot of variety on the album. All the songs are different. They've got the, they're all catchy, but in their own way yet the album flows from start to finish. Well, sometimes I find that electronic music can be a bit for me, heavy or intense. There's, there's too much to digest, but I didn't feel like that with this album. All the songs were very accessible and I, I could listen to them in the background at home by myself when we've got friends around for drinks in a gym bar somewhere. It's great. I love it. So thank you to trove for making it and thank you to suitcase records for sending me a test pressing to check out. I hope you check it out too and I hope you'll love it like I did. Thanks.
