How does Studies Weekly help you save time in the classroom?
Millicent O.: First of all, being a classroom teacher, we are pressed for time, and time management is a necessity that is necessary right now, right then. So we really don't have a lot of time but when we do, we find that the Social Studies Weekly, it is already there for us busy teachers.
How do you incorporate Studies Weekly?
Millicent O.: What we do is we take the Social Studies Weekly, we incorporate it with our curriculum, the skills that we are needing, the scope and sequence, and we try to match It as best we can, and it does match. It touches a lot of things that we need in 2nd grade. I think really, really clear on the citizenship Social Studies Weekly, and the children really have a lot of time. But I love the interactive newspaper-like format. This year was different it was new because we got the whole cute thing, and it was filled with all kinds of activities and information. But what I also love on the back of these Social Studies Weekly is that we have graphic organizers and things where the boys and girls can write down things that they comprehend and things that they're learning and things like that, and the main thing for us right now is writing because writing is another area that we are kind of struggling, but we need to improve. So we find that the Social Studies Weekly gives us an opportunity to do some more writing.
