What do you love about Studies Weekly?
My name is Erica Sauer and I'm the curriculum director for elementary from Hancock County Schools. We've been using Studies Weekly for the Health and Wellness, for Social Studies, and for Science for the past two years in our county with great success. In elementary school, for elementary school teachers and curriculum directors, you know how tight the schedule is— how the bulk of the focus of the day is on reading and math instruction. But yet we also know that social studies, and science, and that health and social-emotional component are so important. So the question becomes how to fit that in. And Studies Weekly has been great to use and implement in our classroom because it is concise, standards-based, and to the point, and easy for the teachers to interweave very relevant curriculum, and up-to-date things that are going on in the world, through their their weekly consumable readers from Studies Weekly into their lessons with ease.
How has your experience with the Studies Weekly team been?
Studies Weekly is a great company to work with. They're very responsive. Our customer service representative, Sheldon, is very resourceful, connects you to the resources you need. And we've had an amazing experience with our professional development. In particular, Betsy has been to our county twice, and our teachers really benefited and appreciated all of the resources that she gave them, and techniques, and strategies, and everything that they were able to go back and immediately implement into their classroom.
What would you tell another educator considering Studies Weekly?
For educators who aren't familiar or haven't worked with Studies Weekly before, I would say that it's very user-friendly, and that's one of its greatest assets for educators who are very busy and trying to work in lots of different programs and curriculums into their day, that Studies Weekly is easy to implement and has a lot of resources that can be utilized immediately, without a lot of professional learning and time to really dive in and take a long time to learn the curriculum. It's very easy and quick to implement.
