Speaker: Clement Townsend, Founder, Video Pro Learning
Could you describe a problem (or a few) you hoped to solve during the program, and how the program helped?
Clement Townsend: One thing that added a lot of value to my business was getting a pitch deck done and completed that I feel comfortable and confident in. And the way that the start at boot camp went about it made it really simple. So they started on the story first, making sure we got our narrative down and they had a specific way that we were able to follow in terms of doing your problem first and doing your solution and other steps. So that made it really simple to get a pitch deck done. At least the first part, the narrative, making sure the narrative was strong first. And we would really help with feedback from the folks that were running and managing the start air program. And we also got valuable feedback from other founders, the other cohorts. So that was helpful and then going to add the slides, then going to add the graphics. So at the end of the day, I came away with a pitch deck that I really felt comfortable with that I could use for a pitch competition sent to Angels or V CS. That was super helpful.
How would you describe the StartEd Bootcamp in three words?
Clement Townsend: I would describe it started at boot camp in three words and I would say insightful, valuable and encouraging.
How was StartEd's program different from other entrepreneur programs you've participated in?
Clement Townsend: I would say the start at boot camp was different from other programs in terms of the community. I really felt like the community aspect stood out. I've been in other programs and they've tried to have and they have had community, but it was something about maybe it was the group of people in my cohort. But the circles were specifically K 12 specifically people that were like building solutions, uh technology and things of that nature. And I really felt like we were all at a, a good stage. We were all at kind of similar stages, some a little bit ahead, some at the same stage and some a little bit um behind, they didn't necessarily have a product yet. So I, I felt like the mix of where we were combined with the people and things of that nature. Like the community was just super positive uh the environment just to uh be around other founders building and feeling passionate about education was great. And then again, certainly like the pitch deck, a lot of programs have pitch practice. And I think there are a lot of places where they go over a deck. But the way to start it, provide the framework and just do the narrative first, get the story down and then add the graphics. I felt that was unique and really led to an amazing experience.
