Speakers: Reem Khouri, Co-Founder and CEO, Whyise

Introduce yourself and what your company does.

Reem Khouri: Hi. My name is Reem Khouri. I'm the co founder and CEO of Whyise. Whyise is an impact data management and analytics solution. We help clients capture the data that they need to measure their impact. We analyse their data in real time and we provide them with insights and intelligence so that they can make decisions based on evidence to exponentially multiply their impact.

Why did you choose to take part in the EBRD Star Venture Programme?

Reem Khouri: I applied to the EBRD Star Venture programme because I had heard amazing things about them and everything that they've done. And it was extremely rewarding. From the workshops to the mentors to the access to networks, it's been a great ride.

What was the most valuable part of the programme for you?

Reem Khouri: It's difficult to pick one, but I would say the workshops with the University of Cambridge really gave us clarity on what to prioritise, what strategy to go for. A beautiful, very scientific way of coming up with a strategy that makes a lot of sense. And things have been rolling since. So, yeah I would pick that.

What have been some of the benefits of the programme? What are you doing differently?

Reem Khouri: So since we finished the programme we've actually been implementing the strategy we came up with during the workshops with the University of Cambridge. So we identified where we need to focus, what type of clients we need to focus on and we've been doing that, and things have been looking up. So this has been a very, very, fruitful outcome of our workshops.

What would you tell other people who are considering taking part in the programme?

Reem Khouri: I would tell other startups that are looking at potentially taking part in the programme to go in with an open mind, to make sure they have as many people as possible from their team attending workshops because it really helps everyone align around the same strategy. And it helps to bring different points of view to the table I'll say to enjoy the ride.
