Speaker: Mitchell Taylor, Project Coordinator (Intern), Stanford CME

What is your favorite movie and why?

Mitchell Taylor: My favorite movie is Mean Girls with Lindsay Lohan because it's just such a timeless uh capture of how our society works and how our views on what's important uh changes so much throughout our lives. Um And it usually starts with like very much materialism and um focused on money and how after, after learning how destructive that can be, um we tend to value uh the, the less materialistic things in our life, like friends and family and actually enjoying our lives rather than um spending our lives thinking about how other people are living there.

Isabella Preston: My favorite movie is Pitch Perfect. Um, because it's really funny and it's one that I can always watch without getting tired of it.

Olivia Leong: My favorite movie is Grave Of The Fireflies, which is an anime film. It's my favorite movie because it has a lot of important themes and a lot to analyze, especially being a war tragedy.

Tamia Trice: My favorite movie is Parent Trap. I really like watching it with my sister. Mhm.

Frances Thea Divinagracia: My favorite movie in the whole wide world is Arrival, which came out in 2016 and it was directed by one of my favorite directors Danny Villano. Um It's my favorite because I watched it in the theaters at a time in my life when I really needed to see it. It's a beautiful and very well made film. Um It's a beautiful film about time and communication and human connection and the choices that we make in life and it just pulled up my heart strings um in the time that I needed to watch it, it really, it really just resonated with me and it was something that I carry with me for the rest of my life and I've definitely seen it probably about at least 20 times at this point. Um So that is definitely my favorite movie, but it's also a very close tie with Spirited Away by Hayami Zaki, a very popular studio Ghibli film. And that's just because I watched it all the time when I was a kid. So definitely gives me a lot of nostalgia.
