What inspired my shift from Banking Executive to Founder, and how did my experiences shape Skinful’s vision?

Ryian K. Coleman: Hello and thank you for the opportunity to participate in Deep End. My name is Ryian Coleman and I spent 22 years in the Banking and Financial Services industry before founding Skinful Tattoo Removal. I served many roles in the bank and Learned a lot, but my last role was in senior management. I managed a P&L and portfolio size of $2.1 billion in assets, approximately 288 individuals either reporting directly or indirectly across 32 locations, and multiple lines of businesses. The birth of Skinful actually came from an incentive trip that I earned in the bank in which my team was being recognized for being the most profitable area in the bank. I was invited to spend some time on the beach with the CEO and I refused to take my shirt off because I, like many of my clients, have a tattoo that I'm not exactly proud of. In fact, this tattoo is more indicative of my past and not of my present. So, I searched and searched and searched and found a provider that removed my tattoo, but the lasting impression that he left on me was lacking in service. He was unreliable, and he would text me 5 or 10 minutes before my appointment time and say I can't make it. The area that I was treated in wasn't very clean or clinical, which left me thinking, man, I hope I don't get an infection or something. So I wasn't very confident in the environment in which I was being treated, and he certainly lacked in service quality. So, I immediately started doing some research mainly because it was so hard to find a provider. And that was really my light bulb moment. When I did my research, I quickly realized the opportunity and that is the story for Skinful Tattoo Removal. I'm from Dallas, Texas. I come from a single parent household. I was the first person to graduate college in my family, gain an undergraduate degree, or having a graduate degree. I'm also a proud grandson of a sharecropper who ran an amazing business for many years, taking care of our entire family without the ability to read, write or do arithmetic.
